NAPA Gold and Wix

Awile back we had a discussion about Wix being Napa Gold and I had said that I thought they were NAPA silver. I was told that the Wix would indeed have the new synthetic media and to verify the upgrade of the Wix by looking for the new orange ABDV. Well I looked and the Wix filters I purchased from Filter1 do infact have the same colored ABDVs as the NAPA Gold (vs. the black ABDV of the NAPA Silver) so I got real excited cause I believe I have oil filters with synthetic media that dont cost a fortune. Just thought I'd share that.

It is actualy the other way around, the Napa Gold are Wix, but it is nice they have a synthetic media for a fair price.

Does Wix make any other type (or level for lack of a better word) of Wix filter? I know for Napa there is the Gold, Silver, Nascar, ect, but is there just one Wix brand?

What is the main difference between the gold vs. silver. The gold has a synthetic media? What are you guys paying for these ?

The Gold has a "glass re-inforced cellulose media" a silicone anti-drainback valve, and a spiral wound center tube. I won't quote a price since I'm in Canada but it's quite reasonable.

While Napa has Gold/Silver lines and CarQuest has Blue/Red lines, the filters with our name on it (Wix) only come top of the line......

OK, that's what I thought. I had never seen anything but a standard Wix, but did not know if I was not looking hard enough.

Which carquest is the best the blue or red, the last ones I bought were the red. Also would the best one of these be the same as the top of the line wix? thanks in advance for any info.

Well, I just bought one. I opted for the cheaper one and it was "Red". I assume the better one is "Blue"

Carquest blue is the top quality Wix filter.
