Napa Gold 7060 cut open

This came off a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 5.3 LMG engine. 42,000 miles on the engine with 3,000 on this run of Mobil 1 5w-30 HM. It is a junk yard engine currently installed in my 08 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Short OCI because it sat for years and was just put back into service. Filter looks great. It was replaced with PP and the longer Napa 7045 filter.

A couple pics of the engine bay before and after. I had MoTech in Las Vegas do the conversion. It also has a GM 6L80 transmission. It went from 201 hp to 320 hp. Maybe more as it has a better flowing exhaust system Way more fun to drive.

I am guessing your oil consumption went substantially down. When my 'rents had the 2009 Rubicon, the oil consumption was my biggest complaint. Less tha 40k on the OD and it drank 1 quart every 1000-1500 miles. 5w20, 5w30, synthetic and conventional.. it did not care. Fun Jeep though. It went literally anywhere. My brother has a JK with the Pentastar now. I had forgotten how much I missed the Rubi. Looks like you have a pretty cool machine. Surely you've done some off road modifications?

Evidently LS powered JKs are a thing. Here is a pic of the shop that did the work. The guy has more work than he knows what to do with. Yep, oil consumption went to about zero. With the 3.8L I was going through a quart every 3-4 thousand miles.

I went back and read about the conversion and left out an amount with the added transmission. Add an additional $3K-$5K to my initial guesstamate.

I went back and read about the conversion and left out an amount with the added transmission. Add an additional $3K-$5K to my initial guesstamate.

Well, the base "budget build" turn-key conversion runs $14,999, which is what mine is. The extras I got were a HD radiator with Pentastar fan. I got a low mileage LMG engine and 6-speed automatic. There are guys putting in new LS3 crate engines and Gen V engines with the 8-speed. The company also sells kits for the DIYer.

I'm not familiar with todays LS engines. I'm old school, just the plain old SBC. The 700R4 trans. was the last one I worked with. But, from my understandings, that LS engine is a BEAST. What number are they up to currently? I think everytime APPLE makes a new I-PHONE, Chevy makes a new LS engine!

I've always been a Ford or Chrysler guy so I didn't know anything about LS engines when I started researching this swap. Everything I've read is pretty positive. Mine is a Generation 4 engine. Current engines are Generation 5.
