Interesting, Blackstone's numbers are lower than Mystik's data. This is a reply I received from Mystic concerning the additives.

Thank you for your inquiry to Mystik Lubricants.

The following are typical properties on Mystik JT-8 15W-50; Phosphorus 1050 ppm Zinc 1280 ppm Magnesium 1060 ppm Calcium 1220 ppm

Hope this helps in your evaluation.

Also, the TBN on the Mystik website for 15w50 JT8 is indicated`at 11 not 10, Viscosity at 100* C cST is 19 not 17.83 and so on.

Would Blackstone's numbers be questionable or is Citgo being optimistic? I would have to agree it is not an impressive CI4+ oil.

I would trust Blackstone's numbers over the possible quality control issues associated with a Citgo product. Did you shake the bottle before pouring the sample?

Gave the two gallon jug a good shaking prior to drawing the sample. Caused some concern with the family which was hard to explain.

Thanks for the analysis and post. Valuble information to have. I guess I can take that off my list of oils for the bikes. Citgo huh? Now Chavez is trying to kill my engines. I don't think I like that guy.

Yes, something worth to consider!
Blackstone show low additive numbers for VOA from time to time.
