This morning I finally swapped out the wonderful, and very new, 5w30 Pennzoil Platinum that I was running in my rebuilt 89 4Runner (22re) and replaced it with 10w-40 Valvoline Maxlife Blend. I am fairly certain that the leaking oil is coming from the engine rather than the transmission that has Redline MT90 in it. If the leak doesn't stop in time I'll have to re-evaluate the situation. Nothing leaked a drop before swapping in the synthetics so I opted to swap out the one that I suspect and also the one with the least cash investment. I know the new oil choice is overkill, but it will let me know what it's going to do.
I also swapped out the fluid in the twin transfer cases with 80w-90 Valvoline Blend. It had conventional/power punch after the recent rebuilt.
So sad to give up the Pennzoil Platinum so soon.
