B.O.C. " Mirrors " release worth a listen . Has the charting song " In Thee " .
I MUST check into that one. I had kind of stopped buying after Specters and had gone back to my old/newer country music for a spell when Mirrors was around. Thanks for mentioning it. I need to check into that one. Lately since all the vinyl collection talk I have been wearing out my BOSE + JBL vintage bookcase speakers. Pushing them with my Marantz SR4000 and SONY CD changer or my turntable... (a retro style newer one that #2 son gave me a while back).
I swear all that old music sounds so darn great thru the little retro stereo system I have set up in the man-cave! I actually can even enjoy the CDs that I know many can not stand. I find them ok.... To me less noise than on some of the old vinyl. Believe me I have some OLD vinyl too. :ROFLMAO:
Today was The Highway Men - Cash/Waylon/Willie + Kristofferson. Later will be the Travelling Wilburys.
Blew one of the speaker covers off earlier with Lynyrd Skynyrd Call Me The Breeze , then Foghat's Take Me to the River & Fool for the City.

I have 2 of 'Quadrophenia' so I might try that Elmers trick just to see how it works. (edit for proper record title)
Always thought that with the exception of The WHO LIVE @ Leeds that Quadrophenia was the best thing they ever put out.
I used to play that one like a very long song. Start to finish over and over again....

I have been buying some NEW vinyl from Ebay. 180 gram LPs. All so far are outstanding sound quality. Some folks say the heavier vinyl makes a difference. Seems to, maybe all in my head, but these things sure are not "floppy" :love:the price is more though
 The sound is so rich and wide. I even bought a OMR of the Dire Straights, I will compare to the old 1978 vinyl.
I was looking at new turntable prices. Wow some of the custom ones are like expensive used/ new car money.

I’m so old I remember people saying Agents was a pop sell out. Hilarious in hindsight. Some of the much later stuff did seem to just be going through the motions- I need to line up the years to see what was going on. Disco was what?? 1978-1984 ish?? Guessing here
Listening to Agents of Fortune at a level that should be illegal this AM.

I can see or rather hear the changes from excellent earlier work and why I liked it as a late teen. First of all it rocks. But sophisticated in a weird way. There are some Steely Dan feel to some of the songs but more personal, a bit more warm and soulful. Listen to Debbie Denise or the rhythm in Morning Final. Fascinating for a band the critics pigeon holed as something for young teens.

Hit the mother lode (if you like classical music) at my local Goodwill store. Time-Life series of Great Men of Music. Each boxed set contains 4 albums. Picked up Rachmaninov, Brahms, Chopin, Mozart and Schubert. The boxes are in very good to excellent condition but the records are pristine! Either never been played or lovingly cared for. $4.99 each.

I remember ads for the Time-Life back in the ‘70s. Subscribe and receive a package every month.

I got rid of a Dual in the 1990s.........LP's went out of style!!
Glad I kept my Luxman. Still working perfectly. Was perusing new turntables, just because. Seems like in the ‘70s semi automatic and fully automatic turntables were the norm. Now quite rare, with manual being the norm. Not sure why, anyone able to explain? I like the idea of my turntable lifting the tonearm and turning off at the end of the record.

Seems like my Time-Life albums were designed for fully automatic turntables with the ability to stack records. They are made so sides 1-4 and 5-8 can be heard sequentially.

I have seen all of the classic "greats" from Clapton - Jeff Beck - Zappa - Dickey Betts - Duane Allman - Steve Marriot - Rossington - Alvin Lee - Elvin Bishop - Joe Walsh - Allen Collins - Rod Price - Hughie Thomasson - Skunk Baxter , even Stephen Stills & Neil Young and on......
I have always felt after seeing the B.O.C. play LIVE about 20  or more times since the late 70s that the three original guitarist were top notch and could hang with the best of them.
Eric Bloom and Allen Lanier not only did rhythm and some lead , they also did the keyboard work too. But the real super star player to this day is Buck. Still out there playing his Steinberger like a mad man at only 80 yrs young! They only got attention when the radio stations flooded the air with The Reaper and yet still were not talked about as talented musicians.

Best I can tell, this is mostly marketing and market trends. TRUE AUDIOPHILES may argue that any additional mechanisms are only going to interfere with the purest possible experience. At 53yo, my ears will never notice a difference in the exact same setup manual and automatic being the only change made. But they sell manual only decks for prices out of my league, and I’m sure it pushes the sale of additional replacement stylus’s.

I enjoy having the stereo going while cooking or other tasks. I’m not intently listening to my albums with the full concentration of all my facilities at all times. I’d much rather have a semiautomatic TT.

I agree. Most times I listen to albums critically and can return the arm to the tonearm rest. I still like the idea that I don’t have to. When I am casually listening, I either stream or listen to a CD.

Listening to the Rachmaninov series of albums. Used my Spin Disc cleaner on the albums though they didn’t appear to need it. I wanted to give these the best possible chance. Impressions so far: Very thin, lightweight vinyl but perfectly flat and concentric. Dead quiet surface! No crackles, pops or surface noise even when listening at very low levels. Probably not audiophile quality in this day and age. I suspect the very lightweight nature of the discs is due to cost. Designed to bring music to the masses IMHO.

You guys that like classical music would love the thrift shop near me, over run with estate donations so the go very cheap. I've found some cool stuff there Bent Fabric and his Orchestra, Firesign Theater before they were named that. Odd ones from the past....
