My old LP's

My only complaint about BOC recordings?

The CD's REALLY suck. Muddy. Bassless. Unsharp highs. The heck, like they just went through the motions in the 1990's??

I never ever thought I would write this: The streaming is so much better. Pretty clean, IMHO.
Worked for a house that did quite a few transfers for CD production in the mid to late 80’s. Yep, they just gave us old 1/4” 15ips masters, mostly EQd for tape but occasionally even LP masters with boosted high end, and they just wanted exact digital copies. Back then, the CD master was a 3/4” videotape digitized by our Sony PCM 1600/1610/1630 and we also provided the info for PQ codes to be added at the pressing plant.

Some real good music here.

No pictures yet, but just picked up 4 albums and 4 CDs from Goodwill. Stopped in on a whim. All classical in immaculate condition. Cleaned them all in the Spin Clean. Checked them all out, low surface noise and no pops or crackles. $15 all in including tax! Brahms, Bach, Copeland, Strauss, Mozart. Considering the age of these discs and albums, I suspect from an estate. The music lives on!!

I'm not completely understanding your record player jargon here, but if you are referring to cleaning records, I've seen videos where someone covers a record in elmers glue. Once it is dry, you can peel off the film which is supposed to remove dust from the record grooves.

I always heard dish soap used gently and rinsed very well.

I still have a Sony ES cassette tape deck that is hardly used. Maybe I should start shopping for some tapes. What is a good source?

Goodwill, flea markets, used record stores. Cassettes are not on the nostalgia radar yet so should be very cost effective.

J. Did you ever get a chance to see one of their long ago road touring mates.... Dave Mason? We got lucky to see him and E.C. BUT never a chance to catch any LIVE Winwood show.
I saw Dave Mason at a Harley dealer event in Gettysburg, Pa. He was bald but still sounded good. I didn't know that he had written all those Traffic hits. Someone brought one of his old albums for him to sign. The cover had a pic of him with long hair. We sat on picnic tables right in front of the of him.

BBS my favorite band. They are the greatest band no one has heard of. They didn't join the music industry, they just toured all the time. They still tour most of the year...for the last 25 years. To me they have a Skynard, Allman Bros, Marshall Tucker influence with a bit of country thrown in.

Now you got me going. B.O.C. is one I have seen so many times since 1974 that I lost track of how many shows long ago. Actually just saw them the last time in 2024. On Your Feet or On Your Knees from 1975 has been one I have owned on 8track / cassette / vinyl and now CD forms. Buck has to be one of the greatest (kind of ignored by the music media) guitarist I have seen and I have seen many of the greats.
Pablo. What are your favorite 3-4 songs by them? Mine would be some like #1) Subhuman #2) Harvester of Eyes #3) Maserati GT (I aint got You.) #4) Buck's Boogie. There are so many this list could go on and on..... Cities On Flame.... Astronomy.... Hot Rails to Hell..... ME262.....
They have lost some really great talent over the years (Bouchard brothers, Alen Lanier) but at least Buck and Bloom are still out there leading and every time they replaced someone it was with a very talented pick. Those guys (Buck-78yrs & E. Bloom-80yrs! old) must have found the fountain of youth to still be out there at their ages....
Who is BOC??

I was told by a member of the current Marshal Tucker Band, of which they too are down to just about one founding member left that they get paid peanuts at a lot of places but they keep doing it because they can afford to and it is simply what they do. Life long career some are just not ready to give up. I was a major fan of the original Atlanta Rhythm Section in the late 70s/early 80s. Saw them many times. A few years back the wife tells me they are playing some place nearby. I found a current YouTube video and it was such a poor excuse for a true cover band, with only the original keyboard player and it was so pathetic I knew there was no way I would enjoy that show at any price. We skipped that one.
I heard Marshall Tucker in the late 90's and Toy Caldwell couldn't sing at all. Sounded terrible so they went into long riffs. There was a large outdoor crowd and people started leaving in droves. I left also. Felt sorry for them but he shouldn't have been out there singing. People want to hear their songs and he can't carry the tunes anymore.

I've pretty much given up on media and have gone to streaming from Qobuz. I have a high end streamer that feeds a high end DAC. I was using Maggies but now have some open baffle speakers. The remixes in 194/24 sound awesome. Music comes out of a black quiet background. I've spoiled myself.
