Thanks for the links for the decks. I just run the same oil I generally run in my cars. And currently its 5w30 HPL pcmo so it will be getting that. My last MTD got little bit of everything including Napa and PennGrade racing oil

First use today. This thing rolls with like 1/5th the effort as my old MTD so thats a major plus.
It likes to pump out debris and dust out by the right front wheel which covers the whole thing in stuff and already is covering the fan and the air filter in stuff...yay.
Overall I am happy with it. I may see if I can do something to knock down the dust and then also add a valve on the fuel line so I can run the carb dry when I am done mowing.

Decided I did not need SP for a trim mower (have 42” LT) - so grabbed this 150cc Briggs powered mower from Walmart for $248 - free delivery … 
Appears to have a nice powder coating and easy to fold/unfold.
There was a trace of oil on the stick from testing - and it smoked for a while when starting first pull! I will keep the 10W30 X 15 ounce bottle …

Nice Mower. I picked one off the curb with a similar engine several years ago and fixed it up/sold it. The carb was plastic and was less than $15 on amazon. They start easy and seem to run well. Do what you want on the oil front, in my experience as long as they're full of something slippery they run forever.

Did you look under the motor for a drain plug - guess this is the “oil fantasy series” and you have to tip or use extractor - no plug on mine …
Where is the bag? I like my old MTD rear bagger. Still got it under the front porch, but I haven't mowed in a couple years . Mice are likely nesting under the recoil/fan cover.
We seem to have a bit of clover and moss around the old log cabin now. Grows low, keeps bumblebees and bunnies happy. No "fake" grass = zero maintenance. Lawns can look nice - a great expanse of green carpeting, but it's not nature. To keep it green and growing, You spread deadly toxins in the form of fertilizer and weed and insect control. Not good for you or the environment.
I worked as a caretaker at a large church complex in the 70's. Mowed the lawn to about 3" tall with a Locke reel, detailed with a wonderful Lawnboy two-stroke. It was a dense, beautiful grass. It didn't lay over.
The following year I got fired for refusing to mow the lawn as short as the Pastor requested. I said it not a fairway and it is difficult to water adequately in the summer. I said it is going to burn. It burned. It was a beautiful lawn.

No drain plug. I just tilt it onto its right side and lean it back slightly and it drains out the fill tube. Eventually ill looking into getting a small extractor to keep at home. I have a normal? Mighty max or whatever its called extractor at work.
So far these last few months it has been flawless. It does struggle a little if the grass gets tall and is wet...but so would any other mower. Ive actually noticed ive reduced my cut times by about 7min because it rolls so much nicer its easier to push along.

I agree, engine oil of almost any type will be fine. Maybe even cold pressed olive oil. It's splash lubrication.
Murray is not high end. It will be OK but it's not a Toro.
But if it cut the grass and you are happy then that's all that matters.
If it develops a problem it will likely be in the drive axle. There is not much to go wrong with the blade. If I remember they don't really sell many individual parts for the drive axle besides the wheels. And the replacement drive axle will be the cost of a new mower.
