It will work. The new ASL will not thicken or thin out of grade.....it may thicken a bit, or may just be reaching 40wt at 25,000 miles, but who cares?

I'm not sure why you didn't buy from me. I would have given you a college discount and free shipping. Wow, after all the questions I've answered for you. Makes me feel kinda crappy, but it's OK.

for tires i recommend the yokohama avid series. they are cheap and are supposed to last a long time and their traction is great. i just put 4 new yokohama avid trz's (all-season tire) on my neon they cost $250 to get to my door and another $50 to mount and balence them so $300 for 4 brand new tires that come with an 80000 mile warrenty.

how long or short are your trips going to be. im in college but i am also driving 50 miles each way to get there.

Trip across the border to Canada to pick up a case or two of Esso Extra XD-3 0w30 Full Synthetic for a mere fraction of what Amsoil costs? Might be a more effective way of getting cheap, long-drain oil for your car (and give you an excuse to visit this great country.)

Well. I bought my car on October 2003 and I already drove 64,000 miles(car has 120,000 miles) myself on the car, So in College, Im thinking a 4rd of that so about 16,000 miles a year.

I would be more concerned about the stupid stuff that happens to your car when you're on campus:

Getting plowed in, finding a space after a snowstorm, getting blocked in by some moron who won't leave until spring break.

If you have satellite parking off in the middle of nowhere you might be better off there, fewer scratches in your paint, etc.

You sound like you'll be renting an apartment, if so, REGISTER YOUR CAR LOCALLY! Also don't put any college stickers on it, don't let it stand out with the local cops. (Though being military you can get away with more with some of them.)

For tires, consider the Kumho tire covered in the links below. Low cost, 70,000 mi. warranty, excellent rating by Tirerack, and excellent views from those who've run them. I've been researching tires a lot and am going to buy these for my wife's 2003 Subaru Forester when her snow tires come off this spring. I'll call around to the shops in my area that sell Kumhos to get the best price I can on the tire.
