Wow. Thanks for sharing. My father passed away at 40 of a massive heart attack. Long story short, when i was approaching 40 i was getting chest pains, down my arm ,etc .. bad. Overweight, all kinds of problems. Then i foun 90,000 heat unit cayenne pepper and now have the arteries of a 20 year old cause i use it consistently. Stuff is amazing. But even bigger, i incorporated a raw juicing lifestyle wich literally changed my life. Lost 115 lbs, but that was just a byproduct. Got my life, my health., my focus back and 20 years later hasnt changed (though juicing has gotten way more expensive). Key is consistency. This is an extremely condensed story, theres a lot more too it but wanted to share it with you and say keep up the good work.The day before my 48th birthday in October, I will be the age my father was when he passed away from a combination of a really terrible lifestyle, cancer, and uncontrolled hypertension. My sister was 44 when she died of a heart attack secondary to extreme morbid obesity.
At my heaviest in 2018, I was 6'5" and 365lbs. I was hypertensive, I had dislipidemia, insulin resistance, every thing you'd expect. In September of 2018, I had the gastric sleeve procedure and within 6 months I lost 100lbs and my labs all normalized. Over the next 5 years, I exercised regularly, changed my diet, but still gained back about 30lbs. In 2023, I started on a GLP-1 and lost the 30 lbs I had gained and I have maintained that weight for 3 years now.
I'm a gymbro now. I life heavy and I'm pretty jacked for a 47 year old dentist. I make sure to get my cardio in. My diet is still on point. I just finished doing a midlife health assessment with a CAC and some labs.
Meds are tirzepatide, levothyroxine, and testosterone.
Currently:

BP 123/72
Pulse 67
Can bench press 6 plates for reps pretty easily and routinely climb 100 flights of stairs for my cardio.
Here are my labs associated with cardiovascular health.

HbA1C = 4.7
LFTs are normal
I just had a colonoscopy with no findings and my Cologuard came back negative. No aches or pains and I feel really good.
I want to get my D3 up...but overall, I'm pretty pleased.

I have lofty longevity goals!Good job on the improved health. I hate to break it to you, but you are past midlife since most men never live until their late 90’s………35-40 is the real mid life for most men.
TRT was started at age 35 with a total testosterone of 110 ng/dL. Did the full workup to determine if I was primary or secondary, and I was primary. I saw a lot of improvements starting TRT but it had no effect on my weight. I actually continued to gain weight. I do have to watch my hematocrit as it creeps up, but I do a double red-cell donation every 4-5 months which lowers my hematocrit about 5 points.Show Off!
JK - Good on you! I'm on that journey as well, being a little shorter than you (6'2"), a little fatter (290), and a little older (50). I've toyed with the idea of the GLP-1 (my wife has lost a lot of weight on Wegovy), but dislike the fact that its a forever drug. Questions for you - is there any concern with having both the gastric sleave and using a GLP-1? Did you go on TRT prior to the weight loss? Do you still need it? That's another drug I'm unsure of jumping down the rabbit hole.

Can you elaborate on the cayenne pepper usage? Do you eat one each day or add it to your juicing? Which veggies are you juicing?90,000 heat unit cayenne pepper and now have the arteries of a 20 year old cause i use it consistently. Stuff is amazing.
