1. Which socialist nation would you prefer to live in when you leave the evil capitalist US?

2. On which airline would you prefer the one way ticket be issued? (e.g. China Airlines, Cuba Airlines, ...).

3. How soon after the Bush victory in November would you like to leave?

That concludes todays civics lesson.

On a more serious note, a US with JFKerry in charge is still way better than the socialist trash that populates much of the rest of the globe. Let's not forget that and try to keep the November election in the right perspective. I fear we will see what happens when folks come unhinged, the protestors at the NYC convention.

Well, assuming I was a liberal and had to choose a socialist nation.....

Finland
Norway
Iceland
Sweden
Switzerland
Denmark
Holland

Any one want to join me???

or perhaps

Most of "the islands" (Cuba excluded)
Austrailia
Canada
England
Fr ..err never mind
Unified Germany
Belgium - well okay

anyone care to add to the list of nasty socialists nations ..where people are merely drones??? Where they typically get 6 weeks a year vacation and most of them frequent foreign travel? Where most of their higher education is free to those who can benefit their society? Where the professional typically take 6 months off for tax purposes and drive their MBs on some tropical island half the year and live like kings??

What a pathetic life these people must lead ......how do they bear that burden???

Not me!! NO SIR!! I'll slug it out here for my share ..and I'll step on all of you to get it to. Don't get in my way!!

I consider myself one of a few remaining God fearing Conservative Libertarians and am willing to fight and defend this nation against all enemies internal and external. I vote and am proud of the "Liberal" foundations of this Country.

Both current controlling Parties are corrupt and unresponsive to the people because we are unwilling to vote and educate ourselves with the blinders off.

I get sick of seeing such simplistic pablum bantered around.

The way you vote, express yourself, or think fellow citizen does not threaten me or my nation.

Attempt to bully or violently force me into any thought pattern and I am ready to "live free or die". Preferably as I assist you in passing first.

Let the process work and vote your educated conscience and leave the marketing of the two corrupt parties in the ****ter where it belongs.

Plenty countries don't measure up to the USA, but I am curious to knnow if YOU have lived anywhere outside the US for a significant amount of time.

Gary Allan - good choices there.

Keith - your ignorance doesn't help the cause.

Terry nailed it, but last time I checked my frequent flier miles with China Airlines they were Taiwan based with no political or monetary ties to the ChiComs......and I thought Taiwan was, indeed, capitalist - sorry.

Please give it rest, go outside and get some fresh air!

PS I'm NOT a liberal.

OK humor....I guess....didn't come across that way, and even in humor accuracy helps.

Hint: Mainland China airlines China Eastern, China Southern, etc...btw these airlines are pretty darn nice compared to ours, especial China Eastern....(sorry)

Keith:

I prefer to fight to fix my country rather than abandon it.

And how soon after the Bush election will your job elect to flee the country, to such exotic low wage places as China or India?

The Scandanavian countries are not bad. Better than many places here.

I have it on good authority that no jobs left the USA under President Clinton, and he really didn't sign NAFTA and GATT and maintain most favored trading status with China did he? { MORE HUMOR FOLKS }

Shucks. Those inconvenient facts just keep popping up.

I have seen many jobs go to India in particular (I am an engineer as my first profession) but I see terrific new opportunities here rather than whining and looking to JFKerry to "give" me a protected job.

I hear Finland is very nice, although they only ranked 10th here:

Highest in the World

My friends in Finland (mostly at Nokia) have been lying to me. They told me they ranked #1!

Just going with a reflexive counterpoint (as in "oh yeah?").

..on a more serious note.

With Capitalism you've got to have "losers". No two ways about it. This is the nature of the economic theory. It may be quite fair, although many could debate that to death. When you have too many "losers", for whatever reason, you ARE going to see a shift to a more soicialist political environmnent IF you have a democracy (or democratically elected Republic).

No one can argue that we have far more losers than we once had. It doesn't matter "why" we have more losers, if you can't make this not so ...you're gonna still have losers. I personally don't think that the composite of personalities/class/social distinction has changed that much ..but the environment in which they live HAS.

With unthrottled trade we have the entire world providing our consumerism (the backbone of the world economy). Free trade is good. It provides competition and allegedly "improves the breed" so to speak (actually not-America has always produced the absolute BEST of everything - most of us just cannot afford it). The older economic theories never took into account the RATE of change. What used to take decades to evolve ..now happens in a very few years. We can't retrain our workforce in the time alloted and then we have a 'gap' that all the world feels.

This is where socialist nations DON'T suffer. They control their trade, don't have big trade deficits and can produce "needed" people with the integrated business/government authority. They don't waste resources. They don't have radical surges of feast or famine.

They also don't have a whole lot of crime. Virtually no murders ..and a population that is, for the most part, happy. The sacrifice they make for this ..is NO ECONOMIC GROWTH.

..and that's something our capatains of commerce will never sacrifice for the benefit of the many ...nor would I recommmend that they do. We're in a trap. We can't do anything like that due to our global obligations. We provide the vast majority of the world with a living ...yet can't do the same for just our population.

So ..get used to the losers. No "pick yourself up by your bootstraps" Rush Limbaugh horse manure rhetoric is going to fix our demographic/global economy/evolutionary woes. Imagine if all the population had a Phd.. Which one would be the street sweeper? The "would you like fries with that?" person? The WallMart cart retriever? There are only so many slots of 'gainful' employment ..and the list keeps changing and dwindling. Any rhetoric to the contrary is just to convince you that you're on the upper tier ...which you may very well be ..for now. We're like the Titanic ..except that we've managed to continue to build the part that is still above the waterline as the ship sinks ..but the race is getting closer ..and the waterline is gaining on us.

..and you wonder why socialist agendas are adopted?

Me? I'll still slug it out ..but what about my son and daughters? What do they do? Just float with the tide ...getting jerked around with every twitch of the economy?? What discapline would you advise to a young person? IT? Medicine? Law? Business? All these things are destined for major evolutions (revolutions actaually) ..and probably not for the better.

So ..you can look at the two political parties as an exercize in "loser managment". The Right says "let them eat cake" ..the left wants to pacify them. That's about the only difference. Either way ..you've still got the losers and more to come.

That problem is getting bigger faster. Commie Pinkc China produces 200,000 engineers per yer, the US produces 60,000. India is doing good too. Those people are eventually going to eat our lunch, or make us stop eating theirs, depending on which way you look at it.

A higher and higher percentage of our workforce is going into service industries, law, and other non-productive fields. In the long run, as our production and true value added content goes down, the US will get weaker and weaker.

A country can only go so far when they basically make a living taking in their own laundry. We are headed in that direction.

Eh? China stands out as the best place in the world if you want to lose weight

Even with all the Walmart money they rake in, the centrally planned economy is a total disaster for the average citizen.

North Korea is right there too, maybe even ahead of China in the misery index. (plus some very corrupt African nations).

All those "happy" people pulling down the Berlin Wall and kicking Gorbachev to the curb. Makes you wonder why.

Here in the US, we are near the point of no return. Almost 50% of income earners pay zero or negative federal income tax (EITC). Guess which way those 50% freeloaders are going to vote? Very likely for more and more "free" stuff. The Bush tax cuts REMOVED a whole lot more people from the "burden" of paying for anything. JFKerry is promising to remove a whole lot more.

A national sales tax (VAT or whatever you call it) might be the only way to stop the insanity and get ALL people to contribute to financing the government.

Or as the democrats will describe it, "tax cuts for the rich".

Keith.

Actually China is getting better. All because of CAPITALISM!!

I would rather eat in China, any day of the week than the over starched over processed crap food not even fit for the ****ter we have in the USA. (I'm not saying we can't get good food in the USA)

I've been many places in China and generally the adults are healthier than USA. I'm sure our medical care is better, and our infant mortalitity rate is lower, but all in all they don't have the larda$$ biga$$ fat folks we grow here......

Sorry - I'm not saying I'd rather live in China - but be careful of generalisms without facts.
