I just got back from a 600+ mile trip with my 06 Acura TL, and once again I’m impressed. I rarely drive the car these days because I use my motorcycle as a daily. For the around town driving I do with the TL, I usually get 21-22 MPG on the trip computer. For it to get 30-31 MPG on this trip is great. The car has 174,500 miles. Acura calls for premium fuel in it but I have been using 87 for the last 4 years. I had the cruise set at 75 mph for most of the trip. It was showing 444 miles until empty the last time I filled up.

Turns out, I mis-remembered.

But, to the cars credit, look at the AVG speed. This was with 2 adults, one child and a trunk full of luggage. I know that weight doesn't effect MPG as much as aero does, but you still have to fight traffic and get that mass moving. And yes my lie-o-meter has always been spot on. I've checked it many times over the years.

And mine is the 3.5 with a bit shorter gearing if memory serves.

that's amazing, only issue is, I can't drive that slow, especially out here, everything is too far. I am curious to know the mpg for that engine at 80-87 mph cruise control set.

Speed limit was 70 mph in Eastern Oregon, but I feel comfortable at 75mph. I haven’t had a speeding ticket since 1997.

As my screen name suggests, I am also a fan of this vehicle. I also have a 2006 TL. The paint is peeling on mine and the dash is cracked etc but the engine is still running well with 310k+ miles. I've been driving my other ride as the AC has been broken since I bought this from a friend, but otherwise I like driving my TL better.

Highway I do +7/8 mph on cruise control unless the flow of traffic is faster (it does happen depending on where you are driving)

70 mph on the interstate reminds me of Missouri, and Illinois. I always did +10 mph on cruise control there and never got pulled over and that was the norm.

Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Nebraska interstate highways are 75 mph to 80 mph, that's why I asked the mpg for 80-87 mph would be.

Try driving on I-65 between Crown Point and Lafayette, Indiana (basically, south of US 30 to just north of IN 26).

Speed limit is 65-70, but traffic (including many semis) frequently move nearly 80 for semis and up to around 90 for cars & trucks. Considering the majority of that stretch is 2-lanes per side, it makes for quite the Slinky when someone insists on going the speed limit rather than moving with traffic.

My 06 Odyssey would knock down over 26mpg once I installed a VCMuzzler; I do like the J35 other than its PCV system and its i-VTEC implementation with “active” motor mounts and cylinder deactivation.

Wonder if the CAFE-gutting will finally return us to the era of fulltime cylinders and long, troublefree engine lifetimes?

I have the usual dash cracks, broken bluetooth, HVAC bulbs are out, no rips in the seats though. My headliner is saggy in places. My paint is pretty good though.

For a model that came out in 2004, it aged like fine wine. I would say the same for the the 1st gen TSX.
