I felt the need to change the oil. I've gone way longer, but my Spidey Sense was telling me to get on it.. 'Put 4676 mile on this interval. The Oil had a different kind of brown hue to it, almost orange tinted..
I cut open the Filter to find a quite bit of scale in it but the Pleats were only Oil soaked.
I used a Fram XG2 Ultra Synthetic and would recommend it. The construction was beefy with a Mesh back support. I scrapped the Pleats to see it I could get any Sludge, but there was none. However, the Media Fibers were easy to scrape away at this point in it's life..
Is my Engine cleaner?? Judging by the scale in the Can and the color of the Oil, I would say yes..
This engine is a 2002 Ford 4.0 SOHC with 124700 on the clock. It doesn't burn any oil but probably leaks 1/2 qt a year..
