My favorite oils, bang for the buck. Prices without rebates.

Conventional or synthetic blend
5W-20 Exxon ($1.29)
5w30 Motorcraft ($1.42)
10W-30 Havoline ($1.08)
15W-40 Mobil Delvac 1300 ($5.88 Gal)

Synthetic (Marketed)
Mobil 1 10w30 Group IV ($19.77 5 QT)
5W-40 Shell Rotella T Synthetic Group III ($11.88 Gal).

BTW some off these were real tough choices as i couldnt complain about any of the Motorcraft Dino/Blends being picked over these or Delo 400 over the Delvac 1300 for $0.36 more per gal.

I change a lot of oil for people and so I am always keeping a eye out for specials. Here's what my last purchasing adventure turned up:

24 quarts of Pennzoil 10w30 - $.99 per quart.
20 quarts of Quaker State 4x4 syn blend - $.75 per quart.
4 Gallons Shell Rotella-T 5W-40 - $5.00 per gallon
10 quarts of Shell Rimula 15w40 - $.50 per quart
1 gallon of Shell Rimula SAE 30 - $1.50 per gallon.
4 gallons of Pennzoil LL 15w40 - $2.50 per gallon.

I use the Rimula in my lawn equipment and the other oils I use in my friends and neighbors cars. Many stores discontinue product and they seem to just put any price on the product that happens to already be in their price gun. It's hard to pass up $.50 HDEO and $.75 syn blend oils.

The pepboys I was in today had Castrol GTX Startup so I bought some. Then I went to AAparts and picked up two others Havoline HM & Havoline Synthetic. I am sure their all good oils but the HM cost the most. I wonder how the startup differs I guess I will send it to Blackstone or has someone already done it. Always wondered if these new oils could compete.
