My 70-something parents have decided to take another long distance road trip in their ID.4

There is a road, no simple highway
Between the dawn and the dark of night
And if you go, no one may follow
That path is for your steps alone

-Robert Hunter

Navigating life's intricate highway, where your footsteps create a unique melody between the sunrise and the shadows, forging a journey only you can tread

—Vladimir Lenin

You were doing fine until that last line. Unnecessary.
Truth can sometimes hurt.

If you live in a City an EV makes a lot of sense.

But the market decides.

And the used EV market is a blood bath at the moment, with terrible residuals.

I don’t have any sympathy after having to endure the smug comments from the early adopters who boasted about how much money they were saving and how anybody not buying an EV right away was clearly stupid.

I'm not the one being a smartass about it saying the truth sometimes hurts. Ever think maybe you just don't understand it and have an aversion to it because you feel the need to be nasty to others?

I live in a small midwest town and it works for us. Am I trying to convince others? Absolutely not. What I will say is I've noticed many spend untold energy on bashing something they don't like on so called principal because they haven't done their research. So don't have sympathy. I don't know what sympathy EV owners need anyway. I'm not the one calling people stupid. What I do know is this has become more of a political issue than a personal choice issue and the vitriol needs to end. I don't understand why some feel so embolden to act the way they do, especially aggressively in public threatening violence which I've seen here. Some need mental help.

Don't listen to the haters.

Good for them....that's cool! Anti-EV/get off my lawn crew losing their minds is hilarious. I like the ID4.

Mods, you can shut this down. They decided not to go for the time being, nothing related to EV or non-EV, just more along the lines of aging parent stuff that I'm sure most folks can relate to.

1) my dad had some appointments in both November and December that could not be easily rescheduled for anytime soon and that he waited a long time for. It didn't make sense to put them off. The original thought was to reschedule but that would have involved another unreasonable wait for new appointments.
2) Going after the appointments would have put them too close to the holidays for both November and December, for which they had committments to be in Texas for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

At this point if a reasonable airfare pops up they'll probably just fly.
