My 51R 100 Month Acura Battery AKA Johnson Controls failed in 50 Months! This little battery is not going to last. I bought the car with the battery already installed so Acura did not honor the warranty! I bought a replacement at Costco. Newer cars are getting this tiny battery, now i need to adjust my budjet to replace the battery every 3.5 years?.

Thats 4 years in a hot environment. Not too shabby. Honda has used that battery for a couple decades at least so its not really a 'newer' battery.

I remember being able to buy Champion batteries that were made for Hot environments! I was not able to find a heavy duty replacement. First time in twenty years I had a car not start!

Honda Corp has gone super cheap with their batteries. I think the ones in the new Accord have around 300cca's. Many on the Accord forums upgrade the battery to a group 35. One guy who just bought a 13 Accord ex-l AT for around 28k upgraded the battery with an Interstate battery immediately.

I seriously doubt they have a 300CCA battery. That is too small...that's what my Harley battery is. With all the electronics on today's cars the smallest size is usually atleast 525cca.

3.5 years in such a hot climate is to be expected.
They do sell blankets to try and protect batteries from the heat.
More CCA in a larger footprint that still fits is good, more CCA in the same footprint (group) = weaker plates.
Its possible a battery you buy locally for your car will last longer as its made for the heat of your locale (maybe). You can ask Interstate (website) about their batteries with respect to warm and cold climates. Even if you do not have an Interstate if will provide you some information to use down the road.

I was told that since I did not buy the battery personally (Certified Used car) they would not do anything. The battery was actually a replacement for the battery that came in the car from the factory (300cca). The first batteries were so weak they fail within two years.

Okay, so you got four years out of it.
That isn't bad for the hot climates it was exposed to.
We typically get longer battery life in this part of the country, but those members living in the hotter parts of the country report battery life similar to what you've seen in this case.

With Ford if the customer does not participate financially in the battery replacement while the vehicle is under warranty, they battery warranty ends with the vehicle warranty regardless of the label on the battery.
O and Mazda has factory batteries with as little as 306CCA from the factory.
