Mr. Heater emergency heating

I have a condo in Dorion that is electric heating. I saw in the CT flier that the Mr. Heater was on sale.

I read reviews and was blown away! Watched vids and was impressed with the company.

I got the portable, runs off of 1lb propane canisters.

But I want a true emergency solution as I have two 20 lb. propane tanks for my BBQ on my deck.

In order to use them I need a 10 ft. hose that they claim doesn't need inline filter, and Mr. Heater sells a filter.

I want to find the filter and buy the 5 foot hose but don't want to purchase online and pay massive shipping and brokerage.

Anyone know about propane filters? Alternatives?

These are not for indoor heating, unless you want to die of CO poisoning and/or burn your house down.

Refill the camping canisters off the BBQ bottle.

The gear will cost you $30 or less.

But don't be silly with it.

Keep two of the big buddies for power outages . You can even use a 100# bottle on then , got a filter but never hooked it up . They have saved the day !! About two days on low setting .

Was thinking about the larger unit, but the smaller one is purely to keep the pipes from freezing and to at least keep the place over 10degC if I run it on high with the sun coming in the windows.

I don't understand the concept of the filter, I guess rust flakes in the tank or some powder?

Do you like the Big Buddy more?

Yeah there are impurities that they let slip through in the bigger tanks, while the retail 1 lb bottles are more carefully filtered.

I have read some about this but only own the small Sport Cat. I have read about people dying of CO poisoning from propane, so I will use alcohol (very simple low power but completely safe) or Kero Sun if necessary.

I used one for years in my cargo van, rolled down the front 2 windows about 2 inches, and used TWO carbon monoxide alarms for safety and yes , every once in awhile they went off, but they go off way before your dead, so to speak. I usually rolled the window down alittle more and that solved the problem, but they will produce the heat, but BE SURE YOU VENT THAT ROOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get a battery CO alarm.

The Buddy heaters have a tip control and CO control built in.It shuts off if no 02.

They all will shut off if there's no O2. Hopefully it shuts off before that.
