Why are you worried about that...all your favorites, info, etc. will be saved...just delete the current one and install the new one.

Since it's just an early release candidate I want to be able to go back easily if there are problems.

I'm digging it.

I've loaded it on 3 of my systems with no probs. Seems more finished than previous releases. Beats the tar out of IE, even the one with the pop-up blocker that comes with XP sp2.

I uninstalled .93 firefox then installed Mozilla firefox RC1 with Thunderbird 0.8 email. It seems great and noticed lot improved. I like it

Oh btw, make sure you export the bookmarks before you uninstall the mozilla .93 after installing the firefox RC1 then import the bookmark.

Hope it clear to you.

i'm a convert. we started running it at work and the IT guy recommended it for home. i like it alot. i loaded the "mouse gestures" extensions and they work pretty slick.

I use FireFox 0.8 and Mozilla 1.7.

I tried upgrading to FF 0.9 and lost all my bookmarks.

Couldn't the programers make FF automatically import bookmarks?

I uninstalled 0.9 and reinstalled 0.8 and got my bookmarks back.

Lately it seems FF has been kinda sluggish. So now I mainly use Mozilla. Unless I run into a site that doesn't work with it, and then I use IE 6.

Most people are luckier than you are and/or willing to mess with the program a bit. FF 0.9 is good, but the 0 in front of the decimal tells you it isn't a full fledged ready for public consumption program. People get enthused about new softtware that beats the pants off of old ms slothware, and sometimes the warts get glossed over in reporting.

The final official release of 1.0 is due out in October. The just released 1.0PR is a preview edition, and is still a bit of try at your own risk program.

Unless you just want to play around, or are willing to take a bit of a risk on less stable programs, it's best to wait until the official for public consumption release has been out a couple of months.

I don't do that, but I don't mind playing around with the software a bit and learning something. It's a bit like being an oil fanatic only not so sick

That said, my wife who understands nothing about software is having no problems with FF 0.9.

First issue ever with Firefox.

How good is Thunderbird?

I found this on another site, you may want to give it a try:

"Most 0.9+ plugins should work with 1.0PR. Go to about:config [about], locate extensions.disabledObsolete and change its value to false ."

You'll find that some extensions and themes won't work when you switch versions. Usually if the release is out, you can get updated versions.

Thunderbird is awsome, I definately recomend it.

Sorry, this makes no sense. There is no "config" in About.

I guess I'll wait for extensions to be updated. Spellbound still works....plus there is ONE thing the new 1.0 version fixed, no duplicate screens when I click on HTML in an email (bug)!!

It's the config screen for customizing you browser, type about:config in your address bar.

has anyone had a problem with using search on ebay with firefox 1.0PR?

i tried to search for something on ebay from the homepage and their search page specifically and the page goes into an infinite loop where it reloads the page everytime it gets close to finishing. it doesn't do this with any other page.

I've been satisfied with it otherwise.

Nice improvement.
