So we have a mouse in the Jeep...

Mrs K2 is on a 3-day trip and sent pics of some things chewed on...fresh cookie in a bag from yesterday's travel, emergency toilet paper raggedy etc.

Figure there's a nest being built under the dash?

We have ultrasonics in the garage which seem to have worked great, but think this might be a "road mouse".

So what is the consensus on how to get 'em out?

Thinking poison would make them crawl up to the nest and die in the dash. Parking back in the ultrasonic garage later today with doors open might work...

There always seems to be great info from board members, so - what experiences and solutions y'all got?

Place an old fashion Victor mouse trap nailed to a 2" x 4" board on the front passenger floorboard. The wooden board will be heavy enough to prevent the mouse from dragging the trap away if it is not killed instantly. Peanut butter is the best bait to use.

I picked up a hitchhiking mouse on a cross-country trip when I stopped to camp. The next day I got a Victor trap like the ones above. I tied a string to it, slid it under the passenger seat, and secured the string to (I think, this was 1984) the floor shifter. Problem solved overnight.

If this hadn't worked, my friends offered the services of one of their cats.

The bait for a trap should be something that the mouse has to pull on and tug at for a guaranteed trigger. Tootsie Rolls work well. Chew a little to soften then conform it around the trigger. It works great after it dries. I've seen a mouse sit and eat peanut butter without setting off the trap.

Must be something about Jeeps. My brother's Jeep Grand Cherokee was just totalled by his insurance company for mouse damage. He had it parked idle in his driveway for about a month. The mice got under the carpet , in the headliner, his dash and even chewed halfway through his seat belts.
