I'm looking for suggestions for mounting a MG oil filter on a 2003 GMC Sonoma/Chevy S-10. 4.3L engine w/AC. Very crowded engine compartment. Against the firewall, directly above the distributor cap, with the filter resting on the heater hoses is the most convenient location I could find so far but I would like other ideas. Anyone have any other mounting ideas for this truck?

I used the front frame rail behind the bumper.

No.

The filter really is well forward of any debris from the wheel catching it and its easily above the bottom of the bumper protected from the front.

That is not a Sonoma is it? That looks slike a lot more space than my Sonoma has.

Same deal though. Find a cavity ..mount it. You also don't need to hard fasten it. Just find a space and lash it fast with zip ties. Naturally, you're not going to suspend it in mid-air where it can fall on something, but a "space" in the engine compartment where it can be lashed to the master cylinder or whatnot

Just leave enough slack in the lines to put a pan under it when you go to service it.

Any particular reason for it to be situated vertically rather than horizontally if I can turn it vertical when replacing the tp?

Orientation is user's choice. Naturally, most fixed mounts make access to the tp as tidy as possible....but I could see the necessity for an inverted mount in some cases.
