Motorcraft Mercon V compatible with Other Mercon V

I just flushed 13 liters of Motorcraft Mercon V through the transmission on my 2000 Explorer. I bought this ATF from the Ford dealer, and the Motorcraft fluid was made in Canada. I have bought 12 more quarts of Texaco Havoline Mercon V to use for pan drain and refills. My question is can these two different makes of Mercon V be mixed together, or do I have to keep using the more expensive Motorcraft fluid?

Both are MerconV. They can be mixed.

Thanks, I know you guys are serious about your oils, and I wondered if there may be a problem with different bases or some other issue.

I would assume that all Makes of Mercon V meet the same specs, so that Coastal Mercon V ATF is as good as any other make.

To reiterate, if other brand ATFs are legally labled in compliance with Ford's Mercon V specification as licensed by Ford Motor Company, then, by definition, they're compatible, interchangeable, or any other adjective you care to substitute. Even if it's Walmart SuperTech Mercon V at $2.99/qt., it will meet Ford's specs and do no harm.
