Just thought I'd post some comparison shots of the factory installed Motorcraft FL2062 vs the FL2062A I bought as a replacement. I ordered a FL2062 and received the FL2062A. There are clearly some differences in appearance. We will see how it does in the long run.

This filter came out of my 2020 2.7 ecoboost F-150

The FL-2062-A is the updated part. It appears to be a Mann. There’s definitely more surface area than the older model. The newer part will work just fine. It looks very much like the VW/Mann filter in my Tiguan.

A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The (Oil Filter) Forum.

Replaced FL2062 with FL2062A. The FL2062 large diameter skinny pink o-rings left pink in the plastic cap’s grooves. IIRC the previous FL2062 had black o-rings, some color not pink. The FL2062A large o-rings are blue-green. The fat small little booger is black.

Scrapped with screwdriver to remove the pink. Using the screwdriver shaft to press oily paper towel in the grooves worked best. This task took the longest to complete.

Wondering if Ford is changing o-ring colors to track age of oil filter? 3 so far, different color each time.

The one the left (A suffix) looks very much like a Mann made cartridge, uses their composite type endcap (see BMW). Much like the FoMoCo spin on, likely a different contract supplier for the factory filter vs the OEM/OES replacement.

My take, as long as the cartridge fits well in the housing, either design will work. In my observation of cartridge OFs, fit is an important factor.
