Motorad Ultrastat

New thermostat in and tested, old Motorad in the trash

Filled up rad and then the block to the top through the heater hose so I didn’t have to do any burping. I did the “racecar test” where I just drive really fast at WOT for a few minutes and keep an eye on the temps. Stayed steady at 91c and when I went back to normal driving it stayed at 89c. Correct diag on the first try feels great

I see RA now has an Aisin for domestic apps like Dodge Magnums.

@slacktide_bitog thoughts? I would hope Aisin isn't outsourcing through Motorad? I only ask because domestic stuff doesn't seem to be their cup of tea

I hope so too!

But honestly, even if it's not an OE thermostat in the Aisin box, if it's not a reboxed Motorad, it probably is better than Motorad, so it might still be worth trying

However, my first choice from what Rock Auto offers would probably be Calorstat.

Also, I hope your Magnum is an SRT8 :D

That's my thought: anything not-Motorad has to be better than Motorad.

The only Magnums I service are 2nd Gen Rams with 360 or 318 gasser. Also I think the venerable Jeep 4.0 uses the same 'stat.
