If you haven't heard, while there may be some episodes in the can that will air on Discovery + and Max, All motor trend content is cancelled.

The only one i haven't heard specifically about is Graveyard Cars, but i'm sure its out too.

So its off to the Tube of You for Dulcich, Freiburger, Finnegan and the gang.

Strangly im finding all sorts of good Mopar content and i'm a Ford Guy. Nick's Garage, Dead Dodge Garage, Rocket Resotrations.... and of course Vice Grip Garage, Sleeperdude, Powell machine and Lykins Motorsports.

If you're a producer of this content, what do you need Motor Trend for? I can't say "who came first", if it was Freiberger and his Roadkill, which wasn't "his", it was his overseer's intellectual property.

There is a pretty good saturation of content, myself I like Junkyard Digs but many are similar. And the actual talent-- mechanical and on-air, get to keep whatever income they generate without splitting it with a production company.

Yeah, shame. I enjoy a lot of MotorTrend's shows. Thankfully there is content that's in the can and will be aired, but it sounds like it'll only be a few episodes into their abbreviated seasons and then they're done for good.

I'm glad most if not all of these guys have their own YouTube channels but the content just isn't the same. I generally prefer the 'produced show' format over the random 'here's what I'm working on today' clips, but it's 2025 now and the way people consume media has changed.

I haven't been able to find the statuses of Car Fix / All Girls Garage / Truck U since they seem to be under the Motor Trend umbrella but possibly owned by someone else or they're done by a different production company.

The PowerNation shows are also in a weird state, with Engine Power and Detroit Muscle having apparently finished their seasons, Truck Tech one episode short, and Carcass abruptly ended after 15. No idea what's going on there.

I noticed the other day that Discovery Velocity has a new name, at least up here in Canada. Now that channel is showing up as CTV Speed. Still has the same content that was on Discovery Velocity though. But right now it’s the off season and my favorite shows on that channel aren’t showing new episodes. I’m bummed if they won’t be returning (especially Road Kill)

MTO's demise was announced about a year ago.

With Zaslav, the anti-Midas, in charge, WBD has left a trail of destruction of all the things it has touched.

$0.02: A LOT of time spent reading all these magazines and watching every "Car Show" I could fine, but those days are pretty much over. Pretty sure my Dec'24 Car and Driver went in the trash without even looking at it.

More than half these shows and magazines (Especially the magazines) feature vehicles that are WAY out of my price range, I'd say out of ~75% of the Americas... I get it "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday" get the guys attention and into the dealer with super hot Shelby and sell him a GT... But there has to be a limit. Now every other month, it's not just a $80k Shelby, it's a $240k Porsche Tacayne etc. Just got old (For me at least). Should have featured a higher % of vehicles within at least within grasp.

And the TV shows: WAAAAY to much just product promotion: "First thing I'm gonna do is put on an Edlebrock Manifold, MSD ignition, B&M trans, [$1200] budgie shocks and it's off to the paint shop" then blow thru the labor in 30 seconds. "Next were going to have a $90k Ducati race a $300k Mclaren"

MTOD was rolled into Discovery + it was never as good and they just killed everything in December.

RoadKill and Roadkill garage never really had the product placements that a lot of the other stuff did.

Vice Grip Garage is still on YouTube, incidentially, Derek kind of went the opposite direction, from YouTube to MT, although his show is dead now too. Oh well back to YT. Google will be happy to collect my $24 a month for YT Premium family plan (6 accounts).
