I have a 2002 F350 7.3 diesel 4x4 and have used the Motor Craft Power Stroke 15w40 with out any complaints. I think it is a quality diesel oil. If I used another brand, I would most likely choose the Delo 15w40.

The MotorCraft oil is getting hard to find. It is mainly only available at the Ford Dealer where I live. It is a quality oil and so is Delo. In fact any CI/SL or CI+ oil works great in the Ford PSD. I have personally used Delo 400, Delvac 1300S, Schaeffers 7000, Amsoil 15W40 and Amsoil 5W30 HDD. Now I am using Royal Purple in my 95 and Delvac 1300 in my 01. I think the most importand thing with a 7.3 Power Stroke is to change the oil at 3K if you are pulling, and 5K for normal service. Synthetic oil with a bypass, you can safely extend that.

Thanks for the reply. Your right, the Motor craft Power Stroke is getting harder to find. I guess the dealer wants consumers to get the oil through them, so they can charge more. A dealer around me wants $2.62 per quart for the 15w40. I asked if they sold it by the gallon figuring it may be a little cheaper, but they didn't sell the gallon jugs? I guess I will most likely go with the Dello if need be. I also know many diesel owners use the Rotella, but I wonder if the Dello is a better choice?

Between Delo and Rotella, pick the one that has the best price. Both are very available while traveling and locally.

I was going to stop by my local Mal-Mart to see if they had any MC 15W40 left or possibly on clearence. Does it have any Moly in it?

Yes, Motorcraft may be there, but Motorcraft is no longer being sold to any WalMart store.
Once your local WalMarts run out of MC, it's gone like MC Hammer.

Try $0.59/qt Delo 400...I stashed 21qts worth thanks to Kragen rebates.

With LC and a good engine the Delo 400 or the Delvac 1300 can be run for over 8,000 miles pulling loads safely. Been doing it for months now. Just put in a bypass filter and going to try to get Delo 400 up to 15,000 miles loaded/unloaded. I will slowly work up to that mileage with used oil analysis to back up its working.

5,000 miles on any CI-4+ HDEO conventional oil is pretty much a no-brainer with the 7.3 powerstroke.
