motomaster formula 1 winter syn blend 0W-30?

so i was browsing canadian tire today and i noticed this oil. seems interesting, because i've never seen a 0w30 thats not a full synthetic, and i thought QS was the only one with a syn blend specially marketed for "winter" use.

also, it brings another question to mind... i have noticed that people keep saying all the motomaster oils are basically copies of formula shell products. is there a shell oil that is a 0w30 syn blend?

any experience with this oil?

That Formula 1 0w30 syn-blend is actually Shell 'Rotella SB (synthetic blend) 0W-30'. I don't have it handy right now, but if you go to shells 'Rotella' site, you'll find it. You will also be able to see the specs for Rotella 0W-40 synthetic, which CT also sells. Finally, there is a VOA of this oil in the VOA section...don't remeber what its titled under.

I'm actually suprised you found this oil - all the CT's I've been to in the Ottawa area took the 0w30 blend off the shelf, and just have 5w30/10W-30....it always seemed to be a slow seller.....

i've been making my weekly rounds, waiting for them to put this, along with QS winter blend 5w30 on clear-out sale now that the winter is ending...

Yeah, when they put the QSWB on sale, its a pretty sweet deal...looks like a great oil for winter! I haven't used it, but I think the concept is great!

winter blends are just marketing scams. There is no noticeable additive difference between it and other oils.

well, actually, there were some data sheet comparisons done a while back on a different thread showing that many of the specs are indeed better than Quaker State conventional 5w30 or any average conventional 5w30 oil for that matter.

so clearly, it is a synthetic blend and is not a scam. and when they clear it out after winter, it is usually up for grabs for REAL cheap.
