Motomaster 5w-20 synthetic 5900mi, 03 Ranger 2.3

Hello

This oil was in use for 3 months and 5900miles. I did about 75% highway driving with the occasional hour long high speed run. Air filter was a motomaster made by fram and the oil filter was a quakerstate made by purolator. This is the Canadian Tire house brand oil in the fancy looking gold bottles.

This oil seems to have a slightly weaker add pack than the tech 2000 synthetic (my last uoa). Wear increased a tad but nothing major. I will say that I am not impressed with this purolator filter. It was bad enough that I had to clean all kinds of junk off the threads but it also gave me a solids of 0.4. The cheapo motomaster fram on my last oci did better. This filter also gave me a scare when I fired up the truck after getting gas and it read no oil pressure for a few seconds. Oh well, can't complain I suppose. That will be it for UOA's for awhile. I have switched back to dino for some 5k runs.

Thanks very much for that - like many, I've been curious about whats in the 'house brand' syn's for a while.

As to which is better, this is a bit of a tough call - T2000 has way more moly, but the MM has more calcium, and still has a decent amount of moly....UNLESS its left over from the T2000...still, wear is good!

You don't have any wear. I'd say that your mileage is limited by the buffering of the oil. Great numbers.
