Hello all. ive got some questions that are specific to the hyndai crowd and some that are just general so I figured BITOG would be a good place to ask so here goes.
Ok first off. drained the trans pan and tourqe converter yesterday and made a BIG! mess of stinky transmission fluid. then I filled the transmission back up (way to much not its over filled so I gota fix that tomorow) havent drivent it more than a mile since the last change. I checked it in N with the engine idoling and ths fluid is way high. (what are the consequences of this if I may ask)
Well anyways my question is I want to do this a few more times to get the old fluid that was never changed mostly to new. Im not really liking the drain pan and [censored]. I was eyeballing a fluid extractor. The liquivac caught my eye at the local TSC last time i was in there. I was thinking about getting on and giving it a try for transmission fluid. oil changes. rear end gear oil and lawn equipment. What do you guys think?
I used the search function and a few people had the liquivac but more had the mityvac so there werent many reviews. I dont really want to buy a cheep tool only to be disappointed but I sure like the price more than the mityvac.
Second question is specific the the hyndai guys. Ok so when I did my pan drop with filter change I added 4.5 quars of oil and that brought me back up to the proper level. this time with just the pan drained I added 4 quarts and its high. way high! like cold at idol its up at the top of the hot marks.
so because i dont have a fluid extractor I was thinking I would jack the car up and pour off about 1/2-1 quart of fluid and check again till its correct and top off slowly if its low.
What is the normal ammount of fluid added to a 99 elantra during just a pan and tq drain? is a fluid extractor a usefull tool. sure looks like it from what ive read but I have no experience.
Thanks
Sean Scott
