Someone is trying to get crowds to trample endangered lichen. Also a boon to the local souvenir business. "Get your monolith pendants and coasters right here" and a "I went to see the monolith and all I got was sunburn and a twisted ankle" bumper sticker.

The local radio News said that it was bolted to concrete. I wonder if the aliens are using proper grade 8 hardware?

The hairy primates had reached a plateau, or so it seemed - and then one touched the monolith - and began to speak of thick vs. thin, the merits of GTL, and the importance of HTHS ...
They are just collecting space junk and bringing it back here.
The odd thing is the owners of the cafe and dairy farm said they saw it in town days earlier. Seems odd to erect a giant structure on someone else's property.
No joy - owners blocked off access because people can't figure out to respect other's property. I talked directly to the owner, after what I was told people are doing, I don't blame them for closing off access.
The property owners took it down today, because people wouldn't stay off their property and wouldn't stop dumping their trash near the monolith. It's a shame people don't know how to behave themselves on other peoples' property.
