Model 3 Highland

I look to Starlink, who is giving free satellite service to Ukraine, SpaceX who is revolutionizing American space travel, Neuralink who is developing tools to interface with the human brain. Pretty amazing stuff.
Funny I was just reading about a company that is already in FDA approved human testing on a brain interface.
When I say, I was just reading, I’m still in bed LOL … anyway, I hear that Musk has been very frustrated as he expected to be in FDA approved testing a year or two ago.

I shouldn’t say this just yet because I do like to be factual, but rumor has it he wanted to buy into this company because of the progress they made and in actual testing on humans.
Some incredible information in the link well done presentation video also.
Amazing stuff,
Obviously, they have the funding.

Check out the video ...

Human clinical trials are underway. See Graham's story here.

Incredible work. So many people, like me, can snivel about the stupidest things, while others struggle and require assistance just to get through a day.

I was in awe that just a few weeks ago they threaded 4 wires from my groin up through my heart valves and into my heart chambers to fix a short circuit (electrical signal) and here they are lining the veins in the brain with sensor fabric (lack of better words) to transmit signals.

Im glad you came through this and are here to wrangle at the digital campfire.

Ps. Technology is great when it helps humans, I know Musk is part of that and many others. I'll go out on the limb and get TRASHED in here (of course) for saying this but out of the mega giant companies out there I still believe APPLE is included in that philosophy.

After concerns for years about an on and off issue with an otherwise heart so strong and healthy they weren't taking me too serious, until I presented them with ECG printouts from my Apple Watch. Now it's fixed, if it kept on untreated it could have damaged my heart forever or worse. The watch enabled me to show the doctors what was taking place when I wasnt in the doctor office and led to a quick resolution before it became bad enough for it to be more easy to detect in their office. BTW - not one, but two heart specialists in their respective field praised those read outs from the watch. (ok didnt mean to side track the thread again, I have another one on the subject.

The issue is that it leaves you cold, numb, and looks as cheap as it is. There is a REASON Tesla is making mad profit. It's because people are paying what they are accustomed to a car costing, and not getting what they are accustomed to getting, but it's unique, so there is a disconnect with the rip-off.

This is what Kia is putting in their M3P priced EV6 GT, for example, complete with holographic display:

This is a nice interior.

Too bad they dont have the basics of the car working properly.

The Hyundai/ Kia cars both speedgate and coldgate during fast charging and the cabin HVAC becomes severely compromised.

Tesla interiors are really bland- but the underpinnings are superior.

Tesla is running on older 400V and instead of gating the HVAC, it gates charging. Give/Take. If you want to miss that, charge it slow like a Tesla. I think 800V architecture is superior.

It should be superior but it doesn't manifest as such on the road.

Bjorns Nylands 1000KM tests dont show the 800V beating the 400V cars in the field.

Slow charging at home - no problem.

Slow charging on a 100+ degree day without cabin AC at locations without waiting areas is far from ideal.

800V allows battery packs to run cooler. That alone is worth a lot as the years and miles go by...

Theoretically should be able to run cooler and charge faster longer with less loss - but does it in the real world?

You cant even park a Taycan in a 100 degree garage without going foul of the owners manual.

Im curious to see the 800V cars past 100K and learn what the degradation actually is between brands.

Porsche messed up. Kia has not.

Here is a recent Neuralink Event. Amazing sutff. 10 minutes well spent, IMO. @Trav not sure if you are interested, but this is where technology just might help the least advantaged of us. At just past the 7 minute mark, they talk about the possibility of parapalegics walking again.

Neuralink is my favorite Musk company.

Except for the charging HVAC compromises they are pretty good.
At least until we see degradation looks like.

Kia/Hyundai has had no issues with 800V architecture, and it's been out em masse, for a good bit, now. The benefits are undeniable.

Thats a list of theoretical benefits - not a test of actual products.

It's well behind on the leaderboard and suffers overheats.

The price of charging at this rate, is HVAC damping. It doesn't cause issues when discharging the battery, which happens at a faster rate than you can charge, and also affects degradation.

The octovalve does a much better job at splitting cooling and heating than what kia has going on.

Heres the last leaderboard I could find - the 800 Volt cars dont have a big if any advantage.

I agree with you that 800 should be superior, but it takes much more than just pack voltage to make a holistic unit more effective on the road.

Pouch cells are dead to me.

BMW with their current prismatic (they are switching to cylindrical) appear to have none of these issues, which is a tell IMHO.

Pouch is fine. Its LG Chem that's the problem. SK is just better at it due to construction method.

Im good with that. It will still operate cooler during actual use, and WOT. You drain the battery harder under wot than you do charging it, regarding %C.
