FYI
my 2000 Merc Sable (Taurus) got 22.5 as the lowest here in Mich last winter. I've seen roda trips get 29.9 doing 68 MPH w2ith windows rolled up in late summer/ early fall. my last check was 26 MPG 60-70% highway miles. 102K miles on engine

It's funny you should post this, and have this discussion

I've now got a 2003 Mazda Tribute I bought two months ago, with a Duratec V-6. I haven't actually measured mileage yet, but I know it uses a lot more gas than the Cavalier we had, and doesn't get quite the range on a tank I thougt it would.

However, it doesn;t bother me - I bought a small SUV to have the capacity it brings, anfter years of 'suffering' trying to fit everything we do into a Cavalier. I accept it as the price I pay for progress.

Even though I have noticed barely any consumption on the dipstick in checking the oil, this vehicle leaves a dime-sized spot of oil in my spot every couple of days, so for my next OC, I was thinking of trying Mobil Super High Mileage, for the exact same reason you are - it's not a thick 30-weight. You get the benefitrs of a High Mileage oil, in a still-EC oil. I like that.
