I had to buy some 5W-30 today at wal-mart and I was shocked to see all the 5qt 10w-30 and 5W-30 were now $29 (used to be like $22) and quarts were now $4.77 (used to be like $4.30). Has anyone else noticed price increases in the past 2 weeks?
Everywhere I've seen Mobil-1 here charges 4.99/qt. Schucks, Auto-zone, Wal-Mart, Sears, all 4.99/qt. Maybe your prices are just coming in line with mine...
At my local wally world the prices varied from 4.34 to 4.77 I think based on grade. It was either 4.34, 4.54, or 4.77. The cheap ones were the typical grades (5w30,10w30,10w40, etc). All the ones that started with a 0 were more and the truck/SUV ones were more. The jug size was only available in the cheap grades/
They had M1 5- and 10w30 at Sam's Club here for 22.40/case (6 qts), which is 3.73/qt, which is the same price I've always seen it (knock on wood). Everywhere else charges 4.99/qt.

A local walmart one town over carries 0w20, 0w40, 5w30, 10w30 and 15w50 for $3.38 per quart. The 5w40 oil is $4.81.
The walmart in my town carries 5w30, 10w30, 15w50 and 5w40 for $4.77.
I think the price difference is because the walmart a town over does oil changes and tires wheras the one in my town doesn't do the oil change thing, so maybe it has to do with volume and how much they actually order and use and sell, either throgh OTC sales or through oil changes.
WalMart in west Nashville has M1 for $3.64/qt or $21.68 per case. Talked to the guy as he was pricing other oils and asked him why it's cheaper at his store rather than others. He said it's due to Target and WalMart's price matching policy for the nearest Target store.
