I have used both. Both are excellent. Go with the least expensive.

Huh? I've been on BOTOG since BH and have seen NO clear winner based on the few gear oil UOA's posted.

You just made that up.

Why would you say that? I spent a lot of my personal time doing a thread comparing M1 75-90, RL 75W-90, RL HD Shockproof and LE607 in S2000's and posted the results here. Look it up if you don't believe me. Calling me a liar puts you on my ignore list Pablo.

I looked it up. I could draw no such conclusion. I'm not calling you a liar, I am however questioning your data analysis skills. You made the claim, let's please see the data. If you don't like being challenged, then when post such things?

A "CLEAR winner"? Please just prove this and I will shut up, so you don't have to ignore me.

Unfortunately, when I did my analysis, there wasn't much interest or data in gear oil. In fact, I begged people to post their UOA's for gear oil. Very few came forward. So I discontinued keeping track of the data. I do see data from Amsoil, LE and some M1 over on S2ki.com. But that's not the comparison the OP is looking for. Since I'm the only one with at least one data point, I think that makes me the most credible analyst here. Rather than try to call me a liar Pablo, why don't you show us your data that shows RL to be the better gear oil for a single application?

Here is the comparison I did a few years ago with RL75W-90, LE607, M1 75W-90 and RL HD Shockproof a few years ago.

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubb...true#Post801388

There was also an Amsoil White paper that was not too impressed with the RL bench tests about the same time.

If anyone has more UOA's of gear oils (RL,AMS, M1, LE, etc.) I'd love to see them and change my opinion of RL. I know plenty of s2000 owners use M1 and RL.

I'm not calling you a liar and I'm not saying Redline is "better". No one posting on BITOG has shown sufficient evidence to declare a winner.

Was that he Amsoil white paper hat looked at multiple gear oils of which RL was but one?

What were the "problems" they were/are having with Red Line; shearing?? Something else?

Yes, but my favorite link for it doesn't work anymore.

The Torsen LSD is a high failure (weak link) item in the drivetrain. It holds 0.81 qts of SAE 90/110 GL5. There may be data that I can grab with a poll to answer your excellent question. But it will take some time. I was just looking at UOA's initially to compare. The HD shockproof provided excellent wear protection. The 75W-90 not so much. This differential shears most gear oils quickly though.

RL users seem to hold their UOA's very close to the vest...not sure why. Hopefully, we'll see more roll in for interpretation. But I won't hold my breath.

Same here (in the '99 and up to '02 4th gen f bodies), or at least the STOCK/OEM T-2 low bias Torsens.

The early, high bias, T2-R aftermarket/road race/a-x Torsens were fairly stout for my car, as long as nobody got nutty trying to do a clutch drop at 4K+ revs with drag radials/slicks with them.

The latter T2-Rs were weak due to the cases cracking even with stock power smooth road race/street use.

I think RL users post UOA's more than most, but then I have been here a long time.

Your eyes are better than mine then sprintman.

The one that is on sale. If you change your diff fluids on a regular schedule it really doesn't matter what you use as long as you have the right spec and viscosity.

I feel that the Amsoil Severe Gear is working well in my Subaru. It is smooth and quiet. I would have used Mobil 1 if I didn't have an Amsoil warehouse 10 minutes from my house.

I use Mobil 1 in my diffs and they quiet and smooth. If Amsoil was available I would use that based on what I've read.
