Hi All,

I am trying to decided between the Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w30 and the 10w40. When I enter my information in the site it selects the 10w30 for me but with my car manual stating 5w30, 10w30 and 15w40 depending on the climate it makes me wonder which would be the better choice for my Volvos. Does anyone have any opinions and input? I just do not know which would be the better oil overall for the cars but they are definitely both HM cars. Thank you.

Excellent choices - I would lean toward 10w30 - engine will have a little more pep (if either Volvo is a 4-cyl).

I'm using Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w40 in my Mazda and Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w30 in my mom's Taurus. The Mazda is a few wks from finishing a 1 yr OCI, and the Taurus is a few wks into a 1 yr OCI.

In a Volvo in your Climate i would try the Mobil 1 10W40HM....If it is does well then you can try thinner. Might as well start with the thickest you would consider in the lineup since you do not have Artic winter temps to contend with! In the old days Volvo's did great on conventional 20w50 and 15W40 so it only stands to reason that a synthetic 10W40 with lots of additives should be a kick but combo!

What would be the point of a HM 5W30?? Who runs 5W30 syntheitc in a high milage engine with weeps and oil consuption issues? "That would like wipeing before you poop!"-Larry the Cable Guy
