This GTL-based is the new Mobil 1 0W40 FS not the old Mobil 1 0W40 ? I have a couple jugs I bought few months ago without FS.

Drat! He beat me to it. I also was going to suggest Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w30. And if that doesn't help, HM 10w40.

Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w30 has a HTHS of 3.3
Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w30 has a HTHS of 3.5
Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w40 has a HTHS of 3.9
Mobil 1 5W50 has a HTHS of 4.4

Try the HM 10W30 next and keep moving up till you find your sweet spot.

Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w40 is some very slick oil for sure.

It helped me save a 5.3L 2003 GM engine that had the oil pump pressure relief valve that got dirty and was sticking OPEN on hot shutdowns. That was 40K miles ago and I am using Motorcraft Semi Blend 5w30 currently. It is the wife's daily driver so I seldom drive it but add 7-8 oz of Archoil AR9100 after each oil change to keep it clean and lower the internal friction.
