"You've never seen an oil like this before. Mobil 1® Extended Performance is a new high-endurance motor oil with 36 percent more anti-wear additives and 37 percent more cleaning agents than current Mobil 1 formulations. It is a fully synthetic formulation that helps extend engine life, reduce oil breakdown and minimize engine wear -- all while helping to keep your engine clean. Improvements that add up to exceptional protection for 15,000 miles. Guaranteed."

Cool! I still think I'll change the oil at 7,500 even using this stuff unless someone does some testing on it and proves it goes longer. Has anyone used this yet and tested? I'd like to use this on my new Kia van in the near future but can't imagine a 15k change. Wow! If this is true then I love Mobil 1.

Its called marketing but to me an oil that can go 15K isnt the best. Im using amsoil 5w30 and soon ill be switching over to 10W30 and changing the oil and filter every 6 months regardless of milage. This oil is rated at 25K change interval or once a year.

that's right! It's called marketing and "This oil is rated at 25k change interval or once a year" Haven't seen any samples here that would prove it will do what they say it will, yet! and yes I've done my own sampling runs with Ams-M1&GC and none of the 3 have done any better than each other after 5 seperate 10,000mile runs with each. They all passed with each having their good points and their bad. High iron, thicking with gas mileage drop, etc. with all 3 having TBN's between 3.3 to 4.1(and no Ams did'nt score the 4.1-M1 did along with a 3.5 & 3.6,Ams was 3.9 & GC 3.3) after the 10,000mile runs which tells me NONE of them would last "25,000miles" maybe "15,000miles" being Blackstone did tell me to try going 12,000miles after 4 of the runs, but that could be just "marketing" right?? PS Mobil 1 Extended Performance is in the car now and depending on the 10,000mile sample test I will be running it the 15,000miles if it is a go by Blackstone. Should know by the end of Nov.

How much is the AMSOIL 5w30/5w-20 compared to Mobil 1 Extended Performance of the same weight?

Personally, I would not trust ANY oil to go 25k. OMG! Are you kidding me? I thought 7,500 was stretching it! You guys are stating 10k-15k? That's even hard to swallow but if the testing states it's ok, then that's incredible to me.

And to think... the local "Jiffy Lubes" tell us to change our oil every 3k. HA! What a money making scam that it, even with conventional. I think the whole oil business is a bunch or terrorists anyway trying to feed off America and it's working!

Just look at gas prices! Doh! We are falling for it and are slaves to the middle East. Bush needs to do something and do it now. Flatten those turbine wearing scums and take over the oil fields! Who cares?? Do you think they care about us? Not. I am sick of the bleeding heart American mentality. We are the ones getting walked on and abused economically. It's scary!

Oh, sorry. Off my soapbox now. Sorry for the small political blunder I caused. Tisk...tisk.

Now, back to oil. The black poison. Can't live with it, can't live without it!

I'm at 13,000 miles on my MI 0W 40 bulk oil from the Saab dealer. Waiting for the "service needed" light to come on. Have done previous UOA with the service rec. so should be intersting--this is going longer.
Will drain between 14-16,000 miles. Saab says up to 18,000 miles...
We'll see!

I am running Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 with a Mobil 1 oil filter in the wife's RX330 and plan to take it to 10,000 miles; I will get an analysis at that time.

It would be nice if the oil can make it to 10K, but I am just not sure.

i think we're converting another 3k OCI'er.

i too used to think that 3k was best, no matter how good the oil.

One thing that confuses me is the statement that Mobil 1 Extended Performance has 36% more anti-wear additives than "current Mobil 1 formulations". Don't the "current Mobil 1 formulations" have reduced anti-wear additive amounts to meet GF-4 specs? Makes me wonder if there are any more anti-wear additives in Mobil 1 Extended Performance than are present in GF-3 forumulations of Mobil 1. This is all too confusing for me

Exactly, I think the GF-3 M1 formulation would fall somewhere between the GF-4 and EP formulations if you compared their addative packs. GF-4 being "weaker" than GF-3 and EP being "beefier" than GF-3.
