The 5 qt. jug of Mobil 1 Extended Performance is currently the same price as regular Mobil 1 at Walmart ($26.68).
It seems silly not to use it instead of the regular version even though I doubt I'll ever exceed 10K on an OCI.

My 2014 Focus specs 5w20 but the 0w20 is supposed to contain a higher percentage of PAO...which would you use in this application.

PS: I'm not concerned about warranty...

Well let us put it this way, I normally use 5/20EP but with all the talk of over 50% PAO in 0/20EP I picked that up instead this last time around.

My Civic is backspecced for 0/20 but even if it wasn't Mobil says you can use 0/20-0/30 in place of 5/20-5/30 and I would have zero concerns about using it.

For the slight edge in cold start benefits associated with a 0 grade oil. I feel it would be beneficial for when I go upstate NY during the winter.

No warranty concerns, I'd use the 0w-20. But because your vehicle is still under warranty, I'd use the 5w-20, just so you don't have that very very unlikely warranty dispute. I realize it's very unlikely to happen, but the Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w-20 is already so good, there's no reason to even take the chance.

Don't forget to use the rebate with your M1 purchase. It'll bring that EP price down even more.

Exxon/Mobil is very confidence about their EP 0Wxx they recommend these oils for Honda S2000(spec 10W30), the order: Mobil 1 Extended Performance 10w30, Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0w30, Mobil 1 10W30, Mobil Super synthetic 10W30 ...; They do not recommend 5W30.

Exxon/Mobil skips 5W30 but recommends Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0w30, this tells me that 0Wxx is stouter than 5Wxx, especially the EP line.

The gap between group 3 and group 4 oils has gotten very narrow, so much that it is unlikely that you would see any differences in actual performance, wear, or used oil analysis between the two.

That said, PAO still is better basestock (even if only in laboratory tests) so if you are going to pay the same price you might as well get the Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0w20 with its >60% PAO content.

I'm glad to hear that the 0w20 EP has more PAO, I grabbed all they had at autozones near me during $1quart Christmas sale, I think I have 60+ quarts left. Not to mention all other grades/varieties.

IT depends on your car, mine says 0w20 on the cap itself.

Manual and cap are different, but in NY it is pretty cold and would benefit from 0w20

No warranty concern? Run 0w20 for car longevity

I'd use the 0w20, which is around 70% PAO (not that base oil alone determines quality but...)

my Walmart only had Mobil 1 5w20 no 0w20 in sight or in the back. Will this be a problem for my 13 accord and civic which has 0w20 on the oil cap
