Mobil 1 ESP Oil

Has anyone seen this? I just saw it today at Pepboys. The 5W30 weight is in the same bottle as Mobil conventional oils, while the 5W40 weight is in the regular Mobil 1 bottles. I looked on their website and they have it up on there. I did a search but did not find anything.

I started a similar thread a few weeks ago.

I was going to add that this oil's performance in my "freezer test" is surprising. After a week in the freezer, the 5w30 is the thickest I've ever seen. It seemed darned near soldi. Spooky. I guess I'll use my quarts of this stuff next summer.

Strictly a comparison of various oils. And down here in FL, even less relevant than it would be in, say, North Dakota.

That said, I've never seen an oil thicken like this one in my trusty freezer. Not even my beloved, but goopy 0w30 GC.

But I've got a better idea. Go get yourself a quart, try it yourself, and see what you think. This will get your attention.

Maybe ESP stands for 'Extra Slow Pumping' in cold weather.

I saw this product on the shelve at my local PEP BOYS store. I passes it up in lieu of the regular bottle that I'm acustomed to see. I don't know enough about this new oil yet.

Interesting.
This oil meets A3 (high performance) and A5 (long life), but not A1, which means that this is not a fuel economy oil. Look like it will be my personal replacement of Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 which I use now. ;-)
