Mobil 1 ESP & EP - Which one is better ?

EP best.

ESP is formulated to protect emissions systems so in the US it can only really be used in diesel applications because of the ultra-low sulphur. Generally speaking ESP under a 10k OCI interval should not be able to hold up due to the acids created by the burning of Ethanol laced US gasoline. The starting TBN is just too low.

My $.02

Mobil 1 ESP should only be used in European diesel applications that call for a super-low sulfated ash content, the TBN is around the lowest available. For a short duration OCI, it would be fine, but EP is a LOT cheaper!

For protection, can't say. That would require a lot of work to determine.

For extended drains, probably EP.

EP is an outstanding oil. I've used it for years with 10-12K OCIs. A friend is doing 15K with EP in a Ford Van. What type of engine you have may determine the OCI.

We do up to 20k ODIs in towncars, but that may be a different application. In fact, 5W20 EP is one of few watered down CAFE elixirs I put in LTC while still on warranty. (Red Line would be another one since it's thicker).
Second ARCO's kudos to Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w30 oil. Cars are kept until 500k, the main concern is the suspension, that drive train is a lucky one for us. Mineral oil with 5k ODIs will get you there as well.

You are doing 20K OCIs with Mobil 1 5w20 Extended Performance in a 4.6? How many miles on the LTC have you run 20K with this oil?

Most of I do is highway. Steady 55-65 mph. I simply reset OLM and go until the second zero is reached. Two 2004 Ultras, one with 260k and the spare one just hit 70k. I am planning to get a bypass oil filtration for the spare and see whether this gives more uptime. All modern oils are capable to deliver more than advertised if the engine is easy on oil and the operator does not abuse the vehicle beyond stupid.

EP is more durable than PP is my experience. I currently use EP and change it every 6-7 months at about 4500 miles. It's dirty and fuel diluted by then. Accord V6,108k,runs like the day I bought it.

Entirely different oils for different uses.
ESP is for very specific applications.
EP is a long-drain oil for everyting else.
I think EP is what you want to be using.

A friend was doing 2 OLM cycles with Mobil 1 5w30 with no problems.
