Was in K-Mart today and they now have Mobil 1 in 4qt jugs, rather then 5qt. Price was $18.99. I've never seen M1 sold in 4qt jugs. Just a tad smaller then the 5qt jugs.

It's called downsizing. If the 5 quart jug could be bought for $19.99 or $4/qt and the 1 gallon jug is $18.99 or $4.75/qt...well then you decide if it's a better deal or not

. Hint, it's not

. Companies seem to be doing this in a variety of consumer products. The shelf price is lowered fractionally but the unit price increases. But on the bright side it's a tiny bit cheaper than buying individual quarts of Mobil 1.

A few years ago GNC did this with all of their products. They kept the bottle the same size but they cut the number in the bottle by 1/2 and kept the price the same. In the last two years I have also watched the prices double on some iteams at GNC.

So on principal alone I will now not buy a single item at GNC. I now order my supplements from companies online. I get 2-3 times as much for half the price!

Walmart still has the 5 quart jugs let us hope this is a K-Mart thing. I might have to send nasty gram to Exxon/Mobil if they try this stunt. I am thining that 5000 Emails from bobistheoilguy members might change their minds!

The only thing M1 has going for it is the price point. If they raise their price at all it is too easy to switch to mail ordering Synergyn, Royal Purple,Delvac-1 etc....

They do this with cough syrup too... Triaminic IIRC came out with "Easier dosing"-- Kids under 6 used to get 1/2 tsp, 6-12 one tsp; now it's
Thought I saw "cases of nine quarts" of oil stacked on a pallet in walmart... maybe pennzoil?

Well, if everyone bought online, then the price would go up on the internet. I work at GNC, and realize their products are marked up about 200% more than they should be. Personally, I still buy my stuff online, but the store is there for ppl who do not have access to the internet and feel better about going to a store to buy supplements.
