Used a Purolator classic filter, wear metals were very close to average according to Blackstone but iron and copper seemed a bit high for this interval? I am now running 0w-30 Mobil 1 for winter and thinking a 7500 mile interval next time. Thoughts? I run the G6 to redline probably 5-10 times a week but otherwise not driven too hard, 50-50 highway/city over a 3 1/2 month interval. Thanks.

ADDITIONAL INFO:

COMMENTS MATTHEW: Go ahead with 7,500 miles next time on either the 0W/30 or 5W/30 oil. Your engine looks great in its first report. Averages are based on about 5,500 miles on the oil. You ran a similar interval to averages,
and your numbers couldn't get much better than they are. You almost never get perfectly average numbers since engines wear differently based on operational factors, but your first sample does look quite good. The TBN of 3.1 shows active additive left and no contamination was found in the oil. See you in 7,500 miles.

You can run a few thousand more miles on this oil and get even better results at a lower price, in my opinion. Also, why not stick with one oil as opposed to switching for seasons? The M1 0W-30 should take care of you all year long.

Forget B/S universal averages and their "good buddy" comments. They are useless. Good to see the TBN. You can certainly go 7500. The silicon is excellent. The 0W30 or 5W30 should be good for year round.

The car is still under warranty, 5 year/100,000 mile powertrain so that is why I stuck with the factory recommendation of 5w-30. But I live in northern NY and it can get to -20F to -25F with no wind chill in January and February. I thought the 0w-30 would give me better cold start protection but I could probably get away with it year round. The Mobil website says the warranty will still cover it, I wonder if that is really true if I had a problem? I am going to do another UOA in 7-8 thousand miles and see how wear compares to the 5w-30 in this analysis. If it is similar or better, I'll probably stick with the 0w-30.

Average wear numbers with mobil 1. I wonder if a conventional would give the same numbers at a lesser cost.
Just spitballing.

M1 0-30 will be an excellant oil for your GM engine as it has the Vette spec and the 69XX spec. My Fords call for 5-20 but as you can see I am using 0-20 with outstanding results even in the very hot summer we just had here in Illinois. Will be due for an OC next week as I have 9700 miles on this OCI. 0-20 easily goes 10K for me.

Doesn't look like there is anything to be concerned about. This engine family does seem to put out Fe & Cu in this range I think. It does look like it would be fine to go farther, if you want to.

What percentage was the OLM and had it indicated a change?

Just out of curiosity, if possible, could you post or PM me Blackstone's averages?

These are the universal averages that Blackstone provided, my numbers were very close as stated in the report. I think the OLM was around 35% left.
