First analysis on one of my 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII's.

This car was purchased used in July, 2007. Prior to that, it spent its life in Florida. I do not know it's history beyond that.

When I purchased the vehicle, I did a standard Auto-RX treatment and then converted to Mobil 1. This sample comes from the first batch of Mobil 1 run in the engine.

Per Blackstone's recommendation, I'll be installing a new air filter.

Comments and suggestions are welcomed and appreciated.

Thanks for looking...

Silicon is too high. I'd give it a few more runs to clean out possible existing deposits.

I looked at my records and I didn't write down what brand of filter I used to replace the air filter that was in the car when I bought it. That was a mistake.

I'll be putting a new filter in it this weekend, and while I'm at it I'll clean the MAF and double-check for leaks.

Very interesting UOA's. Remember when Mobil 1 first came along back in the 80's and they advertised "good for 25,000 miles". Look at that TBN - down to 2.5 in less than 5,000 miles.

I remember running M1 5w-30 for 20K+ (changed filter at 4K) in two Broncos and the first couple Expeditions I had. Wonder what a UOA would have looked like?

A combination of poor air filtration and probably some residual cleaning is not giving that oil 'a chance'...Si and Insols. are high.
