Total miles on this bike is only 5481 at the end of this interval. 4 cyl. 4 carb. 600cc. Honda oil and air filters used. Chevron fuel. Lot of 2-up in the mountains and fast running into triple digits. Drained early due to poor shifting, going to use in Civic for 4k. Currently using Amsoil 10-40 and shifts some what better. Done with M-1 car and M-1 bike oil in this bike simply because of the shifting issue. This is another free test to me so this is all I have to go on. Still high on fuel, 2.3% last time. Maybe a carb synch. could help? Appreciate any comments.

Bought the bike new and it is stock; this is one of the reasons for oil samples is to see if other Hondas are deluting the oil. Just to add, the oil has 9 months in the sump. Wish I could stick with the low cost of the M-1 15-50 but it is not working out for me. Could the last value of Soot .176 equate to insolubles?

Yea..thats a lot of dilution. I would think that soot is the same as insolubles. So that number is I.K. Sorry-no ideas except jetting.

I don't think soot is the same thing as insolubles. Soot isn't usually tested in gas engines. It's a diesel engine combustion byproduct.

Riding in the mountains and triple digits. Sounds like the main jets are a few sizes to big for the thin air. I'd try leaning the mains and the needle jets some. Does power seem to go down when the bike is good and warm?

Carburetion is perfect, short of a flat spot at 5800 rpm since new, and the whole motor set-up is factory stock. Only changes to the bike have been for comfort only: seat, bars, screen. No changes in running from cold to hot nor from lower to upper elevations. Bike runs great. Is copper a concern? Thanks!
