Changed the K&N for a paper on this run.

What do you think?

Sorry for the poor quality of the SC. This is my first time. LOL.

"What do you think"?

I can't understand the continued popularity of oiled cotton gauze, "High Performance"

air filters.

The reduction in silicon & upper engine wear rates is pretty dramatic in this case - note that this service interval is 80% longer than the last time....

I suspect the traces of Na and K are "CCCSS" - California Central Coast Salt Spray...

Silicon drop is great, and typical of a K&N to paper switch. Double the miles and 5 times less dirt!

Lead, Iron and copper do seem a little high though. Although the Potassium and Sodium are low I'd recomend changing the DEXCOOL if it hasn't and adding GM cooling system tabs.

What are the mods?

I'd be worried about DGMLIMG. IMHO.

Ok, what is DGMLIMG?

I have a 3.4 pulley, 1.9 rockers, custom PCM, 180 T-stat, RT Downpipe, AC Delco 41-932's, and gutted airbox with paper filter. Its a rather mild setup but took me to a 14.2 at Infinion Raceway with a 20 MPH head wind.

I havent changed the DEXCRAP out yet but will be doing that soon. What are GM cooling system tabs?

Drew99GT,

Yes it was drastic to say the least!

Tooslick,

Thanks for the comments. BTW, I love the CCCSS!

GM cooling system tabs are an organic tab that can plug minor leaks without causing harm. Check out my UOA for the results. They are only available at the dealer for around $2-3 Change out the DEXCOOL ASAP, before you end up with lower intake gasket failure like me.

Is the lead 7ppm? Seems a little out of place.

I think the relatively higher lead is from running the oil too long. I'd switch to the Mobil 1, EP if you want to consistently run these drain intervals of 10k-12k miles.

I wish I had done a UOA on my GTP when I had it. I ran 10w30 M1 in the summer and 5w30 M1 in the winter in it. It too was mildly modded, I had a 3.4 pulley and a 9" K&N cone. With those simple mods it ran 13.78 at 100mph! (2.00 60ft) The key was that I let the car cool down for two hours before running it, plus the weather outside was nice and cool too (in the 60s) I bet my UOAs would've shown a lot of wear due to that air filter setup I had.

I did. What a difference. I will be changing it out soon. What is a good flush, or what should be done to eliminate all trace of this crap?

That is a factory freak! Best 60' I ever got was a 2.1 on street tires. Very nice. If I raced at Sacramento raceway I could have gotten into the 13's but not as quick as you. To put it into perspective LS1's were all running 14 flat and Mustang GT's were runing in the 15's that day at Infinion!

Did you ever scan that car? Those two mods must have given you a bit of KR unless you were running some high octane 94+

I never did scan the car, but I don't think I got any KR since I was running 94 octane in it. With the long cooldown combined with the cool outside temps, it was a recipe for lots of power without too much worry of detonation. I know it wasn't good for the engine, but with a 2 hour cooldown like that my coolant temp was probably only 100-120F when I started the run. Even when I finished the run the coolant gauge had only slightly moved off the mark!

Long cooldowns and cool outside temps make a HUGE difference in how quick the GTP (or any supercharged car) runs. I would lose 3-4 tenths running it hot.

I used lots of distilled water and prestone cooling system cleaner. I flushed it with the hose, then filled with distilled water, ran that for a day, then dumped that and refilled with distilled water again. If you remove the knock sensors you will get more coolant out, but it is a pain, so I settled for a double flush. I switched to Supertech EL.

I have never heard of a lower intake leak on a L67. Since it's a S/C motor it uses an aluminium intake instread of a compisite. At least on my '04 l67...

It's not the plastic manifold that leaks it's the plastice gaskets. See the UOA post on my 98 lesabre. The lower intake gasket is almost identical on the L67.
