Mobil 1 0w40 & Mercedes 5.5L engine

To those using Mobil 1 0w40 in Mercedes with the 5.5L engine, what color has your oil changed to at what mileage?

I know this is unscientific, but in some ways it shows the oil is doing a good job.

Just curious as to whether my quickly blackening 0w40 is common. At the last oil change (1 year / 6k on SM), it was really really black.

On the new SN, right now it is going red after several hundred miles.

I should also mention it is incredibly thin at ambient temperature of say 55f. It dripped off the dipstick really easily.

Dont think SM or SN matters. Not everything comes out on a drain, so if the prior was really black, the new oil gets a splash of black leftovers. One time I did a rinse with cheap dino to get rid of the leftovers, really helped subsequent drain and fills "look" cleaner.
