I think I know what you meant above but it should be re-worded. The 0W30 oil still gets thicker as the temperature goes down, but at cold temperatures the 0w30 will flow faster than the 5w30.This difference gets more pronounced as the temperatures gets lower.

In your temp range, I'd stick with the 5w30.

Although it would be very cool to put some in your freezer and see how they pour at 0 Degrees F. IF you had an infrared heat gun you could check them at 30, 20, 10 and 0. What a way to spend a Sat morning! Teaching moment for your children maybe?
