Lots of short trips, but now running longer commutes.
We bought this car with about 60k on it. It's had the usual problems with fuel in the oil and rotting rubber hoses in the PCV system. I had the injectors rebuilt. I put in some silicone hoses to replace the rubber. Could that have anything to do with the high silicon readings? I can't see how.
Currently running RT6 5w/40.

Columns are M1 0w/40, GC 0W/30, GC 0W/30, Unknown (any guesses?).

Would silicone hoses cause abnormal silicon readings? ..that's a question for the lab...

Silicon is an element, and a constituent of silicone, which is made of silicon, oxygen, carbon and hydrogen. Since the analysis is done with a gas chromatograph, that vaporizes the oil at nearly 10,000 degrees, I think that silicones would be reduced to their component elements and I suspect that the answer is yes...

As said above silicon could very likely be elevated by sealers, hoses etc. That could be why it is a little high (not too bad though).

I would sure like to know what that oil was too, it performed well even though it was diluted to all heck. I'm going to take a guess that it is Havoline 5w30...lol.
