The previous oil is Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30.

Car is fully modded, daily driven, making around 360 whp and 370 wtq.

It looks like the 0w40 is a better fit for your engine. Even the 0w40 got chopped up alittle but in good shape compared to 5w30.

You have more mileage on the engine now, so it's not a fair comparison. I'd maybe try using a 10w30 here. Less VII's.

Mobil 1 10w30 may shear to a 20 grade, so I would probably stick with this. I think the 10w30 is factory fill though.

What are you running now? Insolubles are really low at .1%. What oil filter are you using?

Right now using Mobil 1 Mobil 104 filter.

Yes, the 30 weight oil shears down too much due to the higher rpm engine and rear mounted turbo. I think the 0w-40 is a better choice than the 30 wt.

OEM: Mobil 5w30

what does rear mounted turbo have to do with anything though?

The rear mounted turbos generate more heat, much more than a front mounted turbo near the front of the car and radiator fans.

This oil always impresses me glad i have lots in stash, looks good nice report sheared some but 040 always does and in this application i think it did well nice sold 30w awesome Cal and Zinc,Boron try longer next time.

Indeed, the results were very stout. I expected the oil to shear down a bit. So it was nothing unexpected.

Most of your PCMO xw-40 grade oils shear to a 30 grade. The most shear stable 40 grade oils are Amsoil DEO, D1 ESP, Red Line 0w-40/5w-40. This is not just something exclusive to this oil. If you look at Redline 0w-40, it has a HT/HS of 4.0. I assume they formulate their oil w/o regard to fuel economy.

It's like I said in the recent Amsoil shear test, there is nothing wrong with the test, but some things to keep in mind.

Everyone is out of spec @ 5% fuel dilution in that test.
Everyone is well within stay in grade after the shear test.
*Essentially no shear means pretty bad fuel economy.

All the studies I've read suggest HT/HS has the most impact on fuel economy. Friction modifiers can only work to a point to improve fuel economy. It's the same reason why Mobil 1 0w30 has a HT/HS of 2.99.

In this particular UOA, fuel is a tad high. TR with B/S is a bit conservative. I don't like the viscosity drop, but apparently OEM's are ok with it. I don't know?
