Question:
Describe ACEA Rating Difference on Mobil 1 0w30 and Mobil 1 5w30
I have recently switched from Mobil 1 5w30 to Mobil 1 0W-30, and noticed that the 0W is only rated ACEA A1 while the 5W is rated A1/A5. What is the reason, and can you put those specs into layman's terms?

Answer:
The testing required to obtain ACEA A5 has not been completed and there are no plans at this time to add this approval to Mobil 1 0W-30. If your vehicle requires ACEA A5 then you should switch back to the Mobil 1 5w30 at your next oil change. However, like all Mobil 1 products, Mobil 1 0w30 Advanced Fuel Economy is a strong oil that will provide outstanding performance in vehicles where it is used.
