Is there any reason I can't use Mobil 1 0W-40 in a carburetor engine? My son has an oil change coming up on his 1986 B2000 and I have some in my stash that I need to use up anyways.

Just wondering.

Thanks!

The truck has 75k orignal miles, I have the oil sitting on the shelf and can't really use it on my F150 or Volt, and I just don't have the time to run to the store considering I work full time and run a small business. Holidays are coming up and life is a little busy at the moment. The oil was purchased a while back on sale so I can't return it, and I have a Bosch filter on the shelf. I realize it's overkill for the application, but this is just a matter of convenience at this point in time.

Great oil! Wonderful oil! Go use it.
[Or feed it to your favorite vehicle instead!]
IF there are problems with a carb, it may be too rich for a number of reasons, and can dilute the oil..ANYBODY'S oil!

+1

From what I read, some GDI engines have higher fuel dilution than many carb engines. M1 0w40 is often recommended for such GDI engines.

In other words, I believe it will be better than it needs to be for your application.
