MMO + TC-W3

Just my own experiment - now running MMO at 960 : 1 ratio along with TC-W3 at 1280 : 1 ratio (recommended MMO alone ratio is 320:1 while same alone for MMO is 640:1) . So for 14 gal of gas I put in roughly 2 oz. of MMO to 1 oz of TC-W3 . In the first complete tank of gas I increased 1 mile per gallon over plain 87 octane gas bought at the same location with similar driving habits . I will continue to monitor to see if the 1 mile per gallon increase continues . * Interesting to note that the recommended dosage of MMO or TC-W3 DROPS my gas milage by approx. 3 miles per gallon in my 4 cylinder DOHC Hyundai engine . It makes me wonder if the recommended dosage of MMO and TC-W3 were configured around older V- 8 or V - 6 engines ??

MMO was created in 1923 for a Pierce Straight 6.

LOL - figures . The TC-W3 oil users came from the LS-1 forum which are of course V-8's .

thats hardly any change at all. I see more than a 3mpg change using the same gas, with the same driving style, on the same route

Yes , you can tell the engine chokes a bit in acceleration although the engine sounds and runs smoother . I'm just giving my opinion that some , newer 4 cylinder engines may do better with a lower dose .

Yep even my 88 aries i use 2 oz 10 galls and it works out pretty goode...originnal fuel pump too lol

I tried them at low dosages in our 2009 Sonata i4 several times, and I am quite sure the mpg took a hit for the worse every time, warm weather or cold weather.

In my 1997 i30, a light dose seems to be beneficial. But I stopped doing it with every fill-up a couple of years ago because it didn't seem to be worth the hassle. Now I do it only on occasion.

My conclusion, from a sample size that is too small to draw any real conclusion, is they work better in older engines. I don't know why they are counterproductive in the 2009 Sonata.

I believe in newer cars the ECU computers are pretty sensitive to what you put in the gas tank . I would like to think that I was doing some good at reducing the doseage until the MPG stopped dropping using the same gas , same route driven , same fill up time , etc. A drop in 3 MPG equals 2016 +/- MPG a year in this vehicle - so worth playing with the doseage for me . * My older push rod engine Buick could give a darn what you put in the gas tank - full or partial doseage with TC-W3 or MMO didn't really change the behavior of the engine or MPG's I saw from it vary .
